The Lights On Afterschool Celebration was a radiant gathering. We enjoyed a full house with parents and city & school representatives joining us. Among our esteemed guests was Representative Garland Pierce, who honored Partners In Ministry with a Proclamation from the State of North Carolina, alongside Mr. Rick Singletary, the Scotland County School Board of Education Chairman. The program began with Ms. Betty Roberts, CO18 Program Director, who welcomed everyone warmly and introduced our inspiring afterschool program students, who led a parade to the event, singing “This Little Light of Mine.”
Throughout the celebration, we were uplifted by encouraging speeches from our honored guests, as well as our very own Dr. Melba McCallum (Executive Director), Dr. Carolyn Banks (CO17 Program Director), and Mrs. Yulla Hines (Curriculum Specialist). Our students showcased their impressive classroom projects, and our PIM elementary school cheerleaders dazzled us with a spirited routine. The underlying message of the Lights On Celebration, "let your light shine," resonated deeply. We are reminded to shine brightly, regardless of the challenges that come our way. When we allow our inner light to be seen, we inspire those around us.
As our event came to a close, we joyfully served dinner to our attendees and offered tours of our campus and student classrooms. Lights On Afterschool was once again a triumphant event for Partners In Ministry this year.
