Upward Bound

The Partners In Ministry Upward Bound program is one of over 900 Upward Bound programs across the nation that provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance.  Upward Bound is the first of its kind in Scotland County. As a new addition to Partners In Ministry, it will help to achieve PIM’s purpose to nurture, equip, and unlock the potential of youth and children and to empower and strengthen families to become self-sufficient while building and sustaining healthy communities.

The Upward Bound program serves students who:
*have completed eighth grade and are between the ages of 13-19.

*have a need for academic support.
*come from low-income families.
*show commitment to succeed in post-secondary education.
*are a potential first generational college student (whose parents do not have a four year degree).

Upward Bound is an academic pre-college program funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.  
There is NO financial cost to the student or their family for all of the services provided through the academic year or the six week summer program.  Most fees for transportation to field trips, classes and course materials are covered by the program.
