JCPC-Youth Empowered to Succeed (YES)

JCPC YES youth along with their mentors toured the Wagram Bee Apiary. Mr. Jeff Stone, owner of the Wagram Apiary, explained to the group how bees are an important ingredient for agriculture. He also talked about how bees pollinate crops in NC, how the honey made by bees has antioxidants which provide many medical benefits such as aiding the human body in its healing process, acts as an antiseptic, and helps with sinuses. Mr. Stone and his assistant also demonstrated how honey is processed and how the all-natural wax can be used to make clean burning candles that don’t smoke because there are no additives.  Both youth and mentors ‘handled’ the bees and for ‘one moment in time’ became a beekeeper.
