Our Summer Camp enrichment program went out with a bang! We had two days of fun and good food, recognizing the hard work each student had accomplished, watching each unique and special performance, and enjoying fellowship and food.
Friday we served breakfast to all, and while the students prepared for their ceremony, the parents participated in a Parent Workshop led by our own Dr. Carolyn Banks and Emma Dockery.
Then it was time to celebrate! Every student was recognized for their work during the summer. Each class had worked all summer on a performance, and each was unique to the group. They did a marvelous job! It was such fun watching them enjoy showing their parents what they could do.
No event is complete without some good food, and our summer youth interns delivered!
Their internship over the summer revolved around learning about business and entrepreneurship through our community garden and mobile produce stand. The youth and their leaders worked and researched their produce and recipes to help teach the community ways to eat healthy. They created a showcase for these recipes called “From the Garden to the Table,” in which they turned fresh produce into a variety of homemade dishes that the students and parents from summer camp could sample.
Finally, we finished off camp with a morning playing on bounce-castles and blow-up water slides! Talk about a good time! And once again, everyone enjoyed grilled hamburgers and hot-dogs.
Thank you to all campers, parents, teachers, and staff for helping make this summer fun and successful!!!
