Congratulations to our newest staff member, Dr. Carolyn Banks, on being recognized as an ITEEA Program Excellence Award winner this year! Dr. Banks was selected as part of a team of other recognized STEM teachers in the country “who are ready to brainstorm and collaborate about bringing STEM to teachers and students.” This group was selected in January by Pitsco’s 2016 Teacher Advisory Group (TAG). This award was give to her program at Spring Hill Middle School for participation in a project to help teach social skills to middle school students. The project was called “Water: A World in Crisis.” It focused on helping people learn to use natural resources to make water filters.
Dr. Banks joined us at PIM upon the closing of the 2015-2016 school year as a teacher for 6h, 7th, and 8th grades. Dr. Banks was a teacher for twenty five and a half years before coming to PIM full-time and is working to serve on the school board beginning this November. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) curriculum has been part of PIM’s ministry for the last several years.
