On Friday, November 7th, the Honorable Garland E. Peirce presented Partners In Ministry with the Outstanding Community Service award. This award is presented to outstanding individuals and nonprofit organizations in the community. “Partners In Ministry has a strong presence in Richmond, Robeson, and Scotland Counties. I would like to recognize them and the impact they have already made in the lives of the community through their housing repair ministry, the food pantry, their senior program, and their youth programs.”-Garland E. Peirce.

In 2014, the ROAR housing program provided Urgent Home Repairs to 19 families in Robeson and Scotland counties and the Summer Program had its most successful year ever. This six week program met for five days each week for six hours each day and had an average daily attendance of 75. In October, Partners In Ministry launched the SYSTEM after-school program. This program, like the summer program, offers skills reinforcement to make sure that the information students are learning in school is being retained with a focus on the STEM subjects as well as Reading and Writing. This program currently has around 120 kids enrolled with the capacity to serve 160. The YES Youth Leadership and Mentor program has 104 kids enrolled that are both in and out of school. The work of Partners in Ministry is made possible with grants from The Duke Endowment, The North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, Lumber River Council of Governments, Resourceful Communities out of Chapel Hill, and donations from the community.
