On Sunday, October 5th, Partners In Ministry hosted an Open House and Dedication of its Resource and Referral Center. The Multi-Purpose building was named in honor of Rev. Leonard Fairley, a key partner in helping Partners In Ministry get its start seven years ago. This celebration was held just one day prior to the start of Partners In Ministry’s new SYSTEM After School Program. The Laurinburg/Scotland County Chamber of Commerce organized a Ribbon Cutting, with Dorothy Tyson of WLNC serving as Mistress of Ceremonies. The Invocation was provided by Dr. Harold Livingston of Scotland County Schools, who also served on the Open House Committee that helped plan the day’s events. The Scotland County School District has been a key partner in getting the SYSTEM program launched. Also in attendance were Cleon Robinson, Jr., Councilman with the Town of East Laurinburg, City of Laurinburg Mayor Tom Parker, Lee Howell, Chair-Elect of the Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Ron Hargrave, Scotland County Schools Superintendent, Sherriff Shep Jones, and Rep. Garland Peirce. Leading the Dedication was Rev. Dora Dorsey, Board President of Partners In Ministry. After the ceremony, attendees were invited to tour the Resource and Referral Center and to enjoy refreshments organized by the United Methodist Women of Central United Methodist Church.
